The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) awards fellowships for American graduate students to research or study at universities in Japan for up to 2 years.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) will interview and test successful applicants in Japanese and English. Awardees will carry out a clear and thoughtful research program related to their field of study. Scholarship recipients may choose to take doctoral courses, master’s courses or a professional graduate course.
